Talkeetna Lakes Park Loop Trails

This expansive park offers multiple trailheads available at either Whigmi or Comsat roads off the Talkeetna Spur Road. A variety of trails are offered including X Lake, Ermine, Mink, and Z Lake loops. X Lake is a 3.4 mile trail that features an elevating trek through the center ridge and is boasted as the most popular trail in the park. Z Lake is a bit shorter at 3.14 miles and circles the entire lake through this journey. Ermine and Mink loops are each .7 miles with flat and wide walking areas perfect for families and those looking for a laid back nature walk. 

Otter Loop Trail at Talkeetna Lakes Park

This 1.9 mile exploration trail also goes by another popular name, Tigger Lake Loop. Another trail that is a great fit for families and all varieties of individuals for a leisurely and beautiful nature excursion through the South side of the park. 

Talkeetna River Chase Trail

An eight-mile out and back flat, graveled, multi-use trail that is a great fit for families or those seeking little to no elevation rates. The start of the trail is located in one of downtown Talkeetna’s parking lots. A short walk to begin with will lead you to the railroad bridge that crosses over the Talkeetna River. From there you can continue straight to explore the Chase community or turn left after crossing the bridge to relax at the seasonally accessible sandbars. 

Old Lake Road & Ridge Trails

Two trails located in the same area that lead to the less visited, but equally beautiful, Christiansen Lake. The trailheads are off mile 12.1 of the Talkeetna Spur Highway where you’ll continue east on Comsat road for either .7 miles or 3 miles. For the Old Lake Road Trail, you’ll do the .7 journey and then turn left on Christiansen Lake Road for a beautiful view and quick turnaround. For the Ridge Trail, you’ll do the 3 mile journey featuring different elevations and a breathtaking Birdseye view at the turnaround. 

Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge Loop

This looped trail offers a forest-dense journey along the northwest side of the Lodge; it is extremely popular with guests and visitors due to the scenery and convenience of its location. With a maximum elevation of 110ft and a length of about 1.1 miles, this trail is fit for all travelers and families combined.
